student credit card

With numbers of credit card companies to select from, and many types of credit cards to choose, selecting the best credit card is difficult.  If you've narrowed the choice down to a student card, here's some info to help you get started.

First, realize that a student credit card might come with an annual fee.  Some credit card providers employ this fee, which is sometimes $25-$75, as a fee for using the card.  When possible, try to get a provider that provides this type of card minus the annual fee.

Next, take a look at the credit card provider grace period.  Companies sometimes give various grace periods based on the type of card, so read the fine print.  Many credit cards use a one month grace period if you pay off the amount due every month.  Otherwise, interest commences compounding the second you do a transaction.

You might want to see your credit score before applying for a student credit card.  If your score is too low, you might not get the student card.  The credit card provider might offer you a unequal type of credit card.

Finally, understand that your credit limit on a new low interest rate card might not be as good as additional cards you already have.  Credit card companies sometimes want to see how well you pay before raising your credit restriction.
